Solving installation issues
If the NZTopo50 app may fail to install for a number of reasons. These are almost always related to either the App Store / Play Store itself, or to your connection to it, or a combination of the two. Apple and Google have some general guides on sorting out these issues and are well worth trying as a starting point.
You can also try a web search for your particular store and installation issue that you are seeing and it is likely there will be a number of useful guides around.
Quick fix
Re-starting your phone (a full power off and restart) solves many issues. This should always be the first thing to try!
If you can’t purchase the app
This is often related to your account settings in the store. Check the guides above for your particular store for fixing these.
If you have previously purchased the app but it doesn’t show up for download or is asking you to purchase it again
This could be due to having the wrong user account logged in on the store, or could be a temporary issue with the store. A phone restart, and/or clearing the data for the store, or just waiting a day, will often fix these issues. See the guides above.
If you have successfully purchased the app but it doesn’t install
The NZTopo50 app is a relatively large installation – since it contains the entire maps for the island – so can take some time (minutes) to install on a slow connection. In some cases however the installation may stall or fail completely due to connection issues or just bugs in the store. See the guides above for things to try for your particular store.
The app still doesn’t install, but I’ve still been charged for the app
Generally both the App Store and the Play Store will automatically refund the purchase price if you don’t / can’t install and run the app. This will be a separate credit and may take a day or two to process. Get in touch with Apple / Google if you still have any issues, or let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
The app installs and the icon shows up, but when I launch the app nothing happens, or something unexpected happens
If this happened then it could be an issue with the app. Let me know what you are seeing.
