Beta Testing

If you are interested in beta testing updates of the app please let us know and we’d love to have your feedback on new designs and features. You are also welcome just to try out new features in advance if you like. There is no requirement for any level of feedback if you join the test programme.

Beta testing comes with a few caveats. Beta versions are installed as a regular update to your main copy of the app, and since there is an increased risk that new versions may be unstable there is a higher chance that the app may not be functional at some point and/or user data may be lost. If you are helping us out with beta testing please make sure that you save a copy of your tracks and waypoints regularly, and don’t count on beta versions always being operational.

If you have a beta version installed then you can return to the latest public version at any stage, however this requires uninstalling the beta version first. Alternatively, once the Beta version has been finalised and released publicly, then your beta copy will become the same as the public version.

Apple testing

To join the Apple test programme you will need to send me your Apple account name so that you can be added to the test list. Next, search for and install Apple’s “Testflight” app on the App Store. Use the Testflight app to choose and install available Beta versions. If you have notifications enabled then you will be notified when new versions are available. Check your auto-update settings to choose whether these are installed automatically or not.

To return to the public version manually (rather than waiting for the Beta version to become public), uninstall the beta version and install the public version from the App Store.

Please send feedback to Steve@sqrl.net, or see the ‘Contacts’ page. If providing feedback on beta test versions please locate the version number from the Settings page of the app and include this with your feedback. If possible also let me know what phone and operating system model you are using.
